Within the individual forums, you can display the conversations in the order they were received (by date, the default), by subject (which automatically displays the threads, or ongoing conversations), or by author. The forum databases can be searched by keyword within the subject, author, body of the individual messages, or combinations thereof. The message entry form on this page will allow you to enter a message into the general forum. |

I encourage the use of real names in these forums. When I put up my first BBS in 1986, my primary reason was to give people a place to communicate and discourse openly, and to freely exchange information. The discourse seemed to be facilitated when people were themselves, instead of hiding behind a psuedonym. Even though "hiding" is the wrong term in many cases, I've found that many people refuse to take any message seriously that comes from an entity known as "CyberGuru", "Johnny Mnemonic", or "MadDog". At a somewhat deeper level, in the absence of face-to-face contact, people seem to be more comfortable at least being able to imagine that there is a real, live person at the other end of the keyboard. Anyway, that said, please also note that I'm only saying the use of handles is discouraged, not forbidden. If you absolutely must, then I guess you must :-) |
